Six year old Soccer Star!

Hi! I'm the youngest sister Felicity! Guess what? I am in soccer!! I go to practice 2 times a week. I run back and forth to the coach and I do push ups. Sometimes we play against a boy team at practice too. My coach is funny and he likes to make jokes. I wear fun clothes and shoes. The shoes are called cleats. Plus I wear shin guards to protect my legs. I kick the ball a bunch of times at practice too. I got a new ball. It's blue. The name of our team is Freeze.
I got sick so I missed my first game.  I was really sad.  Then it was raining and we could't have the next game.  Saturday I got to play in my first game. When we got there we warmed up and then sat under the shade.  We have a lot of girls on my team so I didn't play first. The coach talked to us about where we would stand and what we would play on the field. Finally it was my turn to play. I tried to be my best at playing soccer. My dad came out to the field to tell me what to do. I got to kick the ball sometimes.  I tried to kick it away from the goal. We get a snack in the middle of the game. It helps us not get too tired. I thought I played good. We didn't win. But that's ok.

After the game we got more snacks!! I got chips, m&m's, fruit snacks, and juice. After the game my dad took us to get slurpees!!!! Those are my most favorite! I got a blue one. It was a big one. I couldn't finish it. But I loved it so much and everyday when I come home from school I ask my mom to take me to get a slurpee and she always says no.
Do you play sports? What do you play? Tell me about it!

Attack of the BUGS!!!

Hi. Molly here.  Guess what is so yucky?  Are you ready? Did you guess it? Ok. . . here it goes. . . well. . . uh. .  . me and Annabelle got LICE! So gross right? Bugs crawling in your head and laying eggs? EEEEKKK!
The only good thing is that we got to miss school. But we both got fevers at the same time so we were already sick.  My mom put stinky apple cider vinegar in our hair and dumped a whole bunch of oil in it too.  It felt weird.  Then we had to cover our heads with these plastic wraps.  We sat and watched Girl Meets World on Netflix while my mom combed bugs out of our hair.  It took a long time. We watched almost all the episodes.  I love that show.  I love watching it even though I have seen some of them already.
Have you ever had lice? What did you do? Tell me about it.

Molly

Wanna be Cooking Champ!

Hi everyone! It's Annabelle.  Remember how I said I LOVE cooking? Well my brothers got sick this weekend so we spent a lot of time stuck in the house.  We watched Chopped and Kids Baking Championship on Netflix.  So fun to watch! Of course after I saw those I just had to do some cooking myself.  I begged my mom and finally she said yes!! I got to make dinner and dessert.  We had pasta with Alfredo sauce for dinner.  We used heavy whipping cream, flour, butter, grated parmesan cheese, garlic, salt, pepper, and sour cream for the sauce.  It's a perfect dinner for a beginner because you can use as much or as little of the ingredients as you like. I would make my sauce then taste it and add more of something if I wanted to. I felt just like a real cook!
For dessert we made a yummy chocolate sheet cake. You even had to cook the icing. We were worried that there would be too much icing and it would run all over, but it didn't. And it was so delicious!! Maybe you can cook it for your family too!
Here's the recipe we used:

Grandma's Chocolate Sheet Cake
1 Cup butter
1/4 Cup cocoa
1 Cup water

2 Cups flour
2 Cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 Cup of buttermilk (or sour cream, or plain yogurt)

Preheat oven to 350*. (Grease a 11x17 inch pan.)
In a large sauce pan, combine the butter, cocoa, and water. Bring to a boil then cool to room temperature.

Add remaining cake ingredients and beat until smooth. Pour into prepared pan. Bake about 22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Frost cake while HOT.

Frosting:
1/2 Cup butter (1 stick)
1/2 cocoa
5-6 Tbsp of milk
4 1/2 Cups of powdered sugar
1 tsp of vanilla

Make frosting by combining all ingredients in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Pour hot frosting on hot cake. Let cool completely before serving.

The next night I had to cook again, I just love it so much! We had taco salad for dinner and my mom let me cook the meat.
Do you love to cook? What have you tried? Tell me your experience in the kitchen!

Day at the Beach!

My dad took a day off of work so we decided to go to the beach! Our swim suits from last year got all stretched out and saggy so we all got new suits!! We had a little bit of a hard time finding suits.  There was not many at the store we went to and a lot of them were bikinis.  We needed to find modest one piece suits.  They had 3 different kinds of My Little Pony suits so we got those.  Annabelle was upset because she thought it looked like a baby suit.  I liked mine.  We also bought little shorts to wear with them.  I have some skin tags and sores on my leg and I wanted to cover it up.  And we got to buy swim suit covers. Oh yah and new goggles too! I love getting new stuff!

The beach was so fun! When we got there I ran into the water and I got soaking wet! Then my dad got out our boogie board. When he brought it out Annabelle wanted to ride it first, even though  it was her first time, she really wanted to ride it.  She had a fun time. My dad had us sit on the board and he would pull us around. We all got turns. Even Clive (my little brother) went on the boogie board.
The water ran along the side of the sand and made a little river.  I layed down on my board and tried to float down the river.  It sort of worked.  My mom brought lots of snacks for us to eat while we played. We were there for almost 5 hours I think. The only NOT good thing. . . we all got super sun burned! Agh!! My shoulders and my legs got burned really bad and it hurts to move! But it was such a fun day!

Do you love going to the beach? Tell me about it!

Meet theGIRLS!

Hello web world! We are the:
Gillins Girls
Welcome to our blog.  We are 3 sisters who are excited to create a space where other girls can come hang out with us.  We want to make sure that there is lots of stuff on the internet for kids that is not only good, but good for you!!
We love dancing, singing, acting, cooking, reading, camping, swimming, playing, learning, sewing, relaxing, and sharing these loves with you.

First let us introduce ourselves:

My name is Annabelle and I'm the oldest! I am 10 years old. I am in 4th grade and I have a passion for performing, reading, and cooking. My mom makes me take piano lessons. It's ok but I don't love it.  I really want to spend more time cooking in the kitchen. Also I acted in a play once and it was THE MOST FUN EVER! I would love to perform more. And of course I love to read. I especially love reading books about fairytale characters. Maybe we can share some ideas of books we love! Welcome to our blog!!

My name is Molly and I'm the second child. I am 8 years old.  I am in the 3rd grade. I don't really love school that much.  I really LOVE singing.  I sing all the time at home. Like ALL THE TIME!! I am kind of shy, so sometimes it's hard for me to sing in front of others, but I'm getting better. I also love to use my imagination a lot and play. I like to write in journals and notebooks. I can't resist a cute notebook! I love the color red and eating bread.  Hey that rhymes!

My name is Felicity. I am the third sister. I am 6 and I am in 1st grade.  Right now I am in soccer.  It's my first time. It takes a lot of work, but I am starting to understand better and it is getting more fun. I also LOVE LOVE LOVE to dance! I don't like reading. Except if my mom reads to me. I hate doing homework! I always want to play with friends and have fun!! Also I really love cheese.

We know that it is fun to spend time online when you are a kid.  But sometimes our mom gets really nervous about what is on the internet and she always wants to know what we are doing.  We thought it would be great if we had a blog where girls could go and their moms didn't have to worry.  We hope you will find lots of fun here with us!
