For dessert we made a yummy chocolate sheet cake. You even had to cook the icing. We were worried that there would be too much icing and it would run all over, but it didn't. And it was so delicious!! Maybe you can cook it for your family too!
Here's the recipe we used:
Grandma's Chocolate Sheet Cake
1 Cup butter
1/4 Cup cocoa
1 Cup water
2 Cups flour
2 Cups sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 Cup of buttermilk (or sour cream, or plain yogurt)
Preheat oven to 350*. (Grease a 11x17 inch pan.)
In a large sauce pan, combine the butter, cocoa, and water. Bring to a boil then cool to room temperature.
Add remaining cake ingredients and beat until smooth. Pour into prepared pan. Bake about 22 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Frost cake while HOT.
Frosting:
1/2 Cup butter (1 stick)
1/2 cocoa
5-6 Tbsp of milk
4 1/2 Cups of powdered sugar
1 tsp of vanilla
Make frosting by combining all ingredients in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Pour hot frosting on hot cake. Let cool completely before serving.
The next night I had to cook again, I just love it so much! We had taco salad for dinner and my mom let me cook the meat.
Do you love to cook? What have you tried? Tell me your experience in the kitchen!
love,
Annabelle
